dear life

thank you for the friends who tell terrible ribald ones,
when you think you're disappearing into depression;
thank you for the ones who tell you to turn your saddest most pathetic incidents into blog posts
thereby putting them into perspective and reminding you that you have a huge funny bone
in fact a common one.
thank you for the ones who pretend to be your family
though they are different of skin, history and language
diffrent of culture of mind of value
(only not different of intellect)
and spoil you like they were your long suffering daddy/mummy;
thank you for the sage wise ones
whom you see after years and suddenly blurt out your fears to
and they still treat you to dinner!
other sage wise ones
who pop up now and again to confirm rumours
disseminate information
and remind you that your life matters to theirs;
for the distant ones
who were never really friends
but who matter somehow, in their joys and their pain
through shared circumstances, shared memories, shared loves maybe?
thanks even for the selfish ones
who pound you with their little shits
so that you feel that you're usefully solving others lives;
and if i don't mention the heroines who sit far away
(one who shares a city with me,
and the other who shares nothing but my huge extended childhood)
they will kill me dead -
thank you, dear lifelines.
