(use) nicotine (to) patch

Perhaps the great rift in british society between the hoodie and the granny is to be bridged by smoking. This morning, shivering wetly at the drippy bus stop, I was witness to a bona fide social exchange between a young laddie of mixed ethnic origin and a battered old hag who may or may not have seen better days, but has certainly seen plenty of them. She was attempting to light up a ciggy and didn’t have matches. A bunch of boys were smoking (up) right there and she went over to demand a light. Ensuing conversation was sharp, loud and had positively giggly undertones. The cigarette was lit, cheeks were pinched, voices gruffed, and a veritable Contact Point was made.
Social improbabilities in Norf Landon continue.
