city girl's lullaby
buses, trucks, the occasional train
11 pm, sweet refrain
clicking blinds, chilly rain
moving cloud, winds insane*
drifting off, buzzing mind
cherish any peace you find
tomorrow is for daily grind
(and at lunch a bacon rind?)
a mere two stars twinkle the sky
light pollution; they're not shy.
kind of them to ill-um-in-ate
this city girl's lullaby
the sandman he sits on the fence
*still not crazy as that am-bu-lance!
(this is what happens when you think of the title of poem before you have a poem. sorry fffolks....)
